Bottomline Tech - Healthcare Web App Redesign
Role: Lead UX/UI Designer
- Creating representative personas of both clinicians and senior patients
- Mapping information architecture and user flows for key tasks like form submission and e-signature
- Designing mobile-first wireframes and UI screens with a focus on seniors’ needs (large fonts, contrast, icon+text pairing)
- Running usability tests to evaluate form clarity and layout effectiveness
- Iterating designs based on feedback, constraints, and team input
What Problem Was I Solving?
The challenge was to redesign a web-based healthcare forms platform that supports clinicians and patients in managing digital form capture, signatures, and record accuracy. The original product lacked usability, accessibility, and emotional intelligence, particularly for elderly patients and time-constrained medical staff.
Primary users included nurses, administrative staff, and elderly patients completing electronic forms for appointments, consent, and records.
How We Validated the Design
- Conducted secondary research on healthcare UX best practices and clinician workflows
- Created personas using proxy insights from healthcare case studies and existing data
- Designed and tested early concepts with 3 usability participants representing different user groups
- Incorporated accessibility heuristics and reviewed UI patterns optimized for seniors
- Refined wireframes and flows through task-based testing and internal critique
